An outcome of The Artist to Antarctica Fellowship in 2000, the Deeptime core sample series were inspired by the international drilling project of that name taking place at Cape Roberts and the prevalent scientific culture on the ice.
In contrast, the ‘relics’ from the ‘heroic’ era of Antarctic history provided inspiration for the Homelight series, in particular, the stacks of boxes and tins in and around the historic huts, preserved by the dry environment.
